My Hated Ex-Classmate Apologising?

Today, I was totally caught by surprise when my ex-classmate started talking with me on the train ride home. We used to be rivals in everything and hated each other. We always argued and he frequently tried to sabotage me. However, today he had been talking nicely to me and apologising for the things he had done.

I couldn't believe my ears at first, I was staring at him with my mouth wide open. It was only after he told me what has happened to him that I understood why the sudden change in his behaviour. He said that recently, more and more of his classmates started hating him and teasing him, making him miserable every day. Therefore, he said that when he was home, he used all his free time to reflect on all his actions. He realised he had been too proud and he was sorry for making fun and looking down on other people. He could not take a lost because of his pride too.

After hearing him out, I could not believe that I was actually feeling sorry for him after hating him for so long. I consoled him, saying, "Well, at least now you have realised your mistakes. I am sure so long as you are willing to correct them, your friends will forgive you and you'll start having more friends again."

I really admired his ability to reflect on his mistakes and his determination to correct them. He has done a great job and has improved a lot, and so now I wish him good luck!

The Importance Of Sportsmanship

Today, after lessons were over, I had to stay back in school for the student leader investiture rehearsal. After having my lunch, I had nothing to do before the rehearsal so I wandered around in school aimlessly before finally deciding to stay at the field and watch a group of boys play soccer.

It was really an exciting match. The players were rapidly passing the ball to one another, dribbling, tackling one another and occasionally scoring goals. However, after watching the match intently for fifteen minutes, I witnessed a foul. A player had just received the ball and was dribbling it skillfully towards the opponents' goal when suddenly he was tripped by another player.

The player that got tripped cried foul but the one who tripped him, instead of apologising, scolded the other player, saying that the other player had intentionally fallen down to get a free kick. Soon, things started to heat up and the two players started pushing one another. Fortunately, their friends managed to break them up, but after that scene, the match didn't seem quite as exciting as before and I started making my way off to the hall where I was having my student leader investiture rehearsal.

On the way there, I thought, '' Was all that really necessary?''

If the player who committed the foul had owned up and the boy who got tripped didn't get so angry and acted so rashly, none of the arguments would ever have to happen. This shows how important good sportsmanship is.

Sleepy Problem

Today, at fifteen minutes past two, I was shaken awake by the loud ringing of the school bell. I was feeling exhausted and very sleepy as I had slept at two last night. Thanks to the cycle, which is sleep late, feel sleepy in the afternoon, work done slowly, therfore causing you to sleep late again. I lazily slung my bag, and walked home slowly, dragging my feet all the way home as I thought of the amount of homework that awaited me.

At home, I thought that after having a cold shower, I would be ok. It worked, for a while, but after half an hour, I felt drowsier than ever. ''I can't sleep! I've got a lot of assignments to complete!'' I thought to myself.

I decided to pour myself a cup of coffee and drank it as I worked. However, it still did not work! I continued nodding off to sleep throughout. I washed my face at least another half a dozen times before I finally gave up and just continued my work in the lazy and slow pace.

Then, to my surprise, my father came home early today. I told him about my problem of wanting to fall asleep when I did my work. His answer was quite surprising to me at that time. He just told me to go to sleep, have a one hour 'power nap' he calls it. I was doubtful of his solution at first, but decided to trust him. I did not regret it, when I woke up, I was wide awake and was able to do my work at an incredible speed. Hence, I managed to finish all my homework without sleeping late today.

I have finally broken the cycle, thanks Dad!

A Good Enjoyable Light Jog That Helped Me Learn My Lesson

Yesterday, it was five o'clock in the evening. I was all stressed up, trying to complete the pile of homework on my table which needed to be handed in today. I had been at them the whole day, but the homework never seemed to be getting less. My brain was so tired, I felt like it was about to explode. I tried to answer the next few questions but no answers came to my head. After some consideration, I decided, I needed a break.

I enjoyed jogging so I got changed, then went downstairs for a light jog to relax my mind. Initially, I couldn't. A jumble of mathematical equations and statements were still stuck in my head and my anger towards my teachers didn't help. As I jogged, I kept thinking, '' Why must all my teachers give so much homework? If each one of them gave an assignment, it would be fine, but no, each of them had to give two or three assignments. Maths, Science, Home Economics, Mother Tongue......''

I got so agitated that it affected my breathing rhythm so I had to stop thinking. I told myself to clear my mind and relax. Eventually, the thoughts cleared and I did relax. I enjoyed the wind blowing fresh air into my face, the scenery of my surroundings and just the feeling of running free without any restrictions.

After a while, my mind felt clearer and fresher and I thought, '' Is it really the teachers fault?''

Then, I recalled. My teachers actually gave me a few days to complete most of my assignments, but the past few days, I was only bothered about completing the assignments that had to be handed in the following day. I had also been wasting a lot of precious time. Taking my own sweet time to eat, shower and walk home. Worst still, I played my Xbox for one and a half hours a day. This is entirely my fault!

The important thing for me to do then was to go back home since my mind had rested, focus and try to complete my work, and that was what I did. Although I didn't finish one or two of my assignments and I slept at two in the morning, I had learnt a very important lesson, time management is the key to all success. That light jog really did me good!

Japan Holiday

My family and I just came back from our Japan holiday two weeks ago. It was a very enjoyable holiday and I took many pictures. among all my days in Japan, I enjoyed the first day the most.

In the morning, we finally arrived at Narita Airport after a long and tiring flight. The outside air temperature then was minus four degrees Celsius. On the tour bus, our tour guide was telling us many things, but nobody was listening, as everyone was asleep. I pitied the tour guide.

When we reached Disneysea, it was only ten o' clock so we had plenty of time. Strolling in Disneysea with my parents, with the cold breeze blowing in my face as I enjoyed the view of the open air landscape, I felt unbelievably relaxed and wirthout a care in the world. We were not in a rush as we have sat on most of the rides before in other disneylands.

Japan was not what I imagined. The Japanese are much more particular about cleanliness that what I expected. I could hardly see any litter on the floor. I also noticed that when there was space, the entrance to the toilets have no doors, walls were used instead. I think that was because if doors were used, everyone would have to touch the doors to enter or exit the toilets and that can be bad for hygiene.

The Japanese are also very systematic. For example, people turning right would keep right while people turning left would keep left. They would also stand at the entrance of places and greet you when you enter.

They are very fashionable too, but unfortunately, it was a weekday so most of them were either wearing black or white so it could be quite boring.

As my parents and I explored Disneysea and took some rides, my father and I took many photographs to keep memories and all of us talked with one another and had a great family bonding time. I hope we will have more opportunities to do so in the future.
